My world of work started with a Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship in the UK, 6 months after completion I travelled the world for 18 months.
On return I worked as a maintenance engineer for 3 years but craved to return to Australia and emigrated in 2005 through the skills in demand visa as a Fitter and Turner.
After working for the same engineering company for 9 years I unfortunately suffered a herniated disc in my neck, resulting in a spinal fusion and ending my career in engineering.
When I was able to return to work I applied for a local role as a general hand to get back into the workforce, not knowing that it was a caravan manufacturer.
During the interview, I was told I was over qualified for the role but was offered a position designing and building a slide out "Pod" containing an outdoor kitchen for their hybrid vans.
I spent 2 years with the company learning how their products were built from the ground up helping with manufacturing when I could.
From there I moved to Melbourne's premier caravan and motorhome repairer. Working on nearly every make and model from Australian caravan, camper and motorhome manufacturers, European light weight caravans and American aluminium Silver Streak and Airstream caravans.
Unfortunately during the last covid lockdown my employers business model had to change and all employees were made redundant.
With their backing I was encouraged to start my own caravan repair business.
And Bayside Caravan Services was born!
I decided to offer a mobile service coming to the customer instead of them having to navigate busy Melbourne roads.
To date I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of working independently for myself meeting many many fantastic people along the way.
If you have made it this far reading my about me, thank you. I look forward to meeting you and hopefully be able to provide a service to you.
Cheers Mark.
